Air traffic controllers had warned the Indonesian pilot of dangerous conditions as the plane carrying 130 passengers and crew came in to land in heavy rain Sunday. A total of 88 people died after Flight OG 269 crashed on landing at the Thai resort of Phuket. At least 89 people, including up to 55 foreigners, perished when a plane operated by budget carrier One-Two-Go veered off a runway during a fierce monsoon storm on the resort island of Phuket.

Dec. 24 (Bloomberg) -- Bloomberg's Stephen Engle reports on the recovery of Phuket's tourism and real estate markets following the global financial crisis and 2004 tsunami. More than 8000 people were killed, or are still missing in Thailand from the Boxing Day tsunami five years ago.
