We had a pretty good day today on the La Junta Sub, and saw six trains, and racked up 140 miles doing so. I catch two trains in Grandview, one KCS mixed is waiting in the hole for a southbound BNSF Coal unit train bound for the power plant at La Cygne. Then, after the unit passes, the Northbound manifest takes off.

This is a great shot, I think, of eastbound 4449 rolling off the north end of the Columbia River drawbridge at Pasco, WA on July 3rd, 2009. For me, the best part is seeing the overzealous railfan, who thinks he is above the law and can take a photo from anywhere he damn well pleases, get busted by the local BNSF cop and miss out on the shot he was thinking he could take. With today being the last day of school I decided to start summer off with going to Newton. I was up there for about 2 hours without seeing any mainline traffic so I came back to Hutch.
