For millions of years the Greater Sandhill Crane (Grus canadensis) has migrated through the San Luis Valley. Over 20000 cranes visit the valley in the spring and fall. Cranes travel an average of 150 miles a day. Normally they fly below 5000 feet, but have been observed as high as 11000 feet. Cranes are omnivores, thriving on grain, but will also consume berries, insects, small mammals, crustaceans, amphibians and small birds. Danny skims his Raptor 700R 400 feet with ease! Water is about 15-20' deep. He's Able to do this because he has paddle tires on the rear, additionally he's running low pressure in the stock fronts. No paddle tires in the back and high pressure in the front = bad things.

This video is of several thousand Sandhill Cranes flying in at Sunset from feeding in the nearby cornfields to roost on the Platte River for the night during their annual migration. The unusual and hard to describe "warbling" noise you hear in the video gets VERY loud as more Cranes come in to land. The wind was gusting to 30 MPH so you also hear some wind noise.
