Purple heart and Walnut Rim Tackhead Banjo - Deep Creek Strings
My first rim created on a lathe and it turned out pretty nice. The person who commissioned this banjo wanted steel strings, mechanical tuners and a crescent moon inlay at the 5th fret. Otherwise, this banjo is similar to my other tackhead banjos with internal tensioning systems. To see other handcrafted instruments like this one go to: deepcreekstrings.blogspot.com |

A full sized tackhead banjo from Deep Creek Strings. This instrument has an internal tension ring to tighten the calfskin head during humid days. The system works great! The tensioning hardware and the calf skin both from Mid-east Ethnic Musical Instruments. For more information on this and other handcrafted folk instruments go to deepcreekstrings.blogspot.com As an aside, my clawhammer playing is starting to improve. |
