JohannesburgJohannesburg is the largest and most populated city in South Africa, and is located in the province of Gauteng. Gauteng is the wealthiest province in South Africa and also has the largest economy. Due to its proximity to the mining area of Witwatersrand and Gold Reef City, Johannesburg has been and continues to be the source of much gold and diamond trade since the late 1800’s.

DurbanDurban is the second most populated city in South Africa and is found in the province of KwaZulu-Natal. It is a major centre of tourism because of its warm climate and beaches, and is also the busiest port in South Africa. One fifth of this city is comprised of Asians or Indians from the mid 1800’s when the sugar cane industries were established. Although Durban, along with Johannesburg has seen its share of political and racial history, today, these cities are booming and growing into internationally recognized destinations.

Cape TownCape Town is the third most populated city in South Africa, and is located in the province of Western Cape. This city is the most popular tourist city in South Africa, because of its harbours and natural landmarks, including Cape Point. First developed by the Dutch as stopping point, this city became the South African government’s central location. It is also compared to Nice, France and Haifa, Israel for its scenic and ocean-side ambience.
