Best places to visit by boat in North Lake Tahoe

North Lake Tahoe

When it comes to cruising the waters of Lake Tahoe, there’s more to the experience than just feeling the wind in your hair — although that sounds like a great time too! You don’t even need to leave North Lake Tahoe to experience some of the best food and fun the area has to offer. Ready to plan your trip? Let us help.

Where to Start

For some of the best options for boat and jet rentals on the lake, visit Action Water Sports of Incline Village. Take a quick drive over to the Hyatt at Incline Village and park in their large outdoor guest lot. From there you can walk down to the Lone Eagle Grill, through the restaurant and back to the docks. Feel free to drop guests off by the restaurant, but just be sure to let the person at the gates know you are dropping off for the docks.

Where to Go

With your captain’s hat on and the sun on your face, take some time to cruise around the northernmost area of the Tahoe Vista, taking in the beauty of Agate Bay, then heading west to Carnelian Bay.

This is where the annual Concoursd’ Elegance wooden boat show takes place, and it’s also where you can catch Mackinaw trout year-round. If you brought Fido onboard with you, it’s also a good place to let him get out and run around — the beaches here are dog-friendly.

Continue travelling west along the coast — with your wakeboarder or skier in-tow — and it won’t take long before you reach Dollar Point, where you can continue with your water sports, like wakeboarding, water skiing, and inner tubing.

Where to Stop

 North Lake Tahoe

When you’ve worked up your appetite again and are ready to get out of the water, there are lots of places you can stop to get some grub. Keep moving either way along the coast and try one of these three places, which are local and tourist favorites:

  1. Gar Woods — Should you find yourself back in Carnelian Bay, Gar Woods is your one-stop shop for simple, delicious food. During the summer, their 130ft pier allows for guests to arrive by boat. It was founded by legendary boat racer Garfield Wood, and remains a local culinary hotspot.
  2. Lone Eagle Grille & Bar — If you’ve made your way to the east side of North Tahoe, then stop by the Lone Eagle Grille & Bar. You can find it at the Hyatt in the Incline Village. This location is perfect for summer or winter visits, with its private beach access and large stone fireplace; no matter the season, you can count on some breathtaking views.
  3. Jake’s on the Lake — A seasonal restaurant, Jake’s is open daily during the summer, and only for weekend lunches during the winter. With its seafood-centric menu, this is a place where you can get your fill of fresh fish while imbibing some specialty cocktails.
