Golf at Blue Tip: Nine-Hole Course at Ritz Carlton, Grand Cayman

Blue Tip Golf Course

Nestled in Grand Cayman and built only by the best in the golf universe, Blue Tip is the Ritz-Carlton’s newest golf course – and is redefining how nine-holes are played. As if they Cayman Islands couldn’t get any more luxurious or beautiful.

The course was designed by Greg Norman, the World Golf Hall of Fame member and his company, Greg Norman Golf Course Design (GNGCD). The result is a course of championship quality – in length, challenging terrain, diversity of layout, natural beauty and, in keeping with GNGCD’s mission, environmental sensitivity.

With course designs on four continents, GNGCD is one of the world’s leaders in designing golf facilities, but the company typically leaves construction to the developers. Of 22 Norman designs recently opened or in development, GNGCD agreed to build only three, including Blue Tip.

A World Class 9-hole Championship Golf Course

The Ritz-Carlton course, spread over 120 acres, could have been designed for 18 holes. After viewing the property, Norman recommended building a superlative, world-class nine-hole course instead. While many nine-hole resort courses are little more than glorified “executive” courses, Blue Tip’s stats have already earned it a reputation as a “Caribbean Monster.”

The “Caribbean Monster”

The Ritz-CarltonThe 3,515-yard, par 36 course is open only to hotel guests and Residence owners and offers five sets of tees for varied play. Blue Tip features five long Par Fours and a 600 yard Par Five. Water comes into play on eight out of nine holes. One environmental feature of The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman course is a water retention system that ensures that virtually no service water from the course flows into surrounding natural waterways.

Blue Tip at The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman enhances the guest experience with its Golf Caddie Concierge Program. This provides a professional attendant to accompany each golfing group and cater to every wish before, during and after the round. In addition to offering advice on precise yardages, club selection and strategy in handling tricky Caribbean trade winds and water, the caddie cleans clubs, rakes bunkers and repairs divots. The recommendations are particularly handy on the tough Ninth Hole, a short Par Three playing into crosswinds, with an island green guarded by four bunkers. Blue Tip also offers a pro shop, private and group instruction and rental equipment.
