Rain clouds approachingSunquest, Holiday House & Fun Sun Vacations won’t let it rain on your parade – or holiday

Sunquest, Holiday House and Fun Sun Vacations are launching a new consumer promotion called ‘RainCheck’, effective Nov. 15, 2008. RainCheck is a weather protection guarantee that entitles the purchaser to a free vacation should it rain for more than half their holiday.

“We conducted focus groups and a national survey and overwhelmingly people came back to us saying that rain would ruin their beach vacation. We’ve responded by introducing RainCheck,” said Susan Bowman, senior vice-president of marketing for Thomas Cook Canada, parent company to Sunquest, Holiday House and Fun Sun Vacations.

Get RainCheck and you won’t get caught in the rain

Available on all land-only or package vacations (minimum three nights/maximum 21 nights) to the Caribbean, Mexico, Hawaii, Florida and California (some exceptions apply: RainCheck cannot be purchased on the following destinations: Los Cabos, which will be available as of Dec. 15, 2008, Ixtapa, St. Martin/St. Maarten, Cozumel, Mazatlan, Liberia (Costa Rica), Bermuda, Turks & Caicos and Kona) if it rains half an inch or more in a 24-hour period for at least half of the total number days of a person’s vacation, those who took a RainCheck will get to replace that vacation with another one.

Run and monitored by WeatherBill, an independent third-party weather risk management firm, the rain measurements will be taken at all entry airports or, in the case of some land-only bookings, from the closest official weather station to the customer’s hotel.

RainCheck will be sold for $39.95 per adult (kids 12 years of age and under are free provided they are sharing with two full-paying adults and those adults have purchased RainCheck), but as part of the launch the companies will be giving away a total of 20,000 RainChecks with all new bookings.  hose who have already booked their Sunquest, Holiday House or Fun Sun vacation can talk to their travel agent to buy RainCheck and have it added to their file.

“Innovation is part of what makes our brands market leaders and we are proud to be able to launch this one-of-a-kind offer to the Canadian market on an exclusive basis,” said Bowman.
