The Fore! Play golf experience on Big Island Hawaii

The 15th holeWe played The Mauna Lani South Course. With emerald green fairways are situated on open, black forms of lava with striking views of the blue Pacific, resulting in dramatic color contrasts. The 15th hole on the South Course may be one of the most photographed holes in Hawaii golf due to its tee-off from a rock pedestal topped with brilliant green grass driving across a stark black lava chasm where the beautiful waves of the ocean crash against the shore. We guarantee this shot will take your breath away!

The Mauna Lani North Course, has brown/black forms of pahoehoe (smooth) lava, emphasize rolling fairway and is a bit more challenging. Groves of twisted kiawe (mesquite) trees along the fairway edges. Water hazards come into play on nearly every hole, and several holes are contiguous with the ocean.

There are as many as five different tee positions on most of the holes to give golfers a wide range of options in meeting the challenging conditions.

The Mauna Kea Hapuna Golf Club. Sits on the hill above the landmark Mauna Kea Resort. The Mauna Kea Resort is scheduled to reopen in Nov. 2008. Hapuna North Course is challenging with magnificent views of the ocean from every hole. Bring along your a game of long and straight, otherwise, bring along a lot of balls! Tee times are available up to a year in advance. So, if you have a preference, book early, especially during the holiday and busy season.
