Green Luxury Travel: Impossible? Fairmont Thinks Not

Luxury travel and environmental friendliness? At the same time?

Sounds like more of an oxymoron, right?

Fairmont Hotels and Resorts Partner with WWF

A few weeks ago on January 10th 2008, Fairmont Hotels and Resorts and the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) announced its new partnership in the hopes of combating climate change. As the first global hotel brand to partner with the WWF to tackle climate change, the WWF will work alongside Fairmont Hotels and Resorts to assess and develop a carbon emission reduction plan for all of Fairmont’s properties.

As a “green conscious” pioneer in the luxury hotel and tourism industry, Fairmont hopes to reduce its emissions through improved energy efficiency, increased conversion to renewable energy supply, and promoting conservation practices among its colleagues. At the same time, Fairmont is also committed to its hotel and resort services, hospitality, and customer satisfaction. For more information on the WWF, visit: http://panda.org
