The Kakolat Waterfall is located about 33 km’s from the city of Nawada in the Bihar province of India. It is an increasingly popular tourist attraction in Bihar and many people visit this unique spot in India during the summer time for picnics and family time.
About Kakolat Falls
The waterfall is approximately 150 to 160 feet above ground level. It is surrounded entirely by luscious green forestry, which add to its beauty and drama.
A Hindu legend is told of a king during the second age of man (Treta Yuga). The king was cursed by a Hindu seer and was forced to take the shape of a python and live here at the falls.
The place was visited by the five mythical brothers called the Pandavas during their exile. From their visit, the phython-king was rid of his curse and proclaimed that any person who bathed in the waterfall would be safe from any curse to take the form of a snake in this life or any other.
Visiting Kakolat Waterfalls Today
Today, many people come from near and far to bathe in the falls. In April, the Vaisakhi festival takes place for Hindus and Sikhs. During Vaisakhi and other festivals, celebrations are held at the falls.
