National Museum of Ethiopia

National Museum of Ethiopia also known as Ethiopian National Museum comprises of various artistic and archeological treasures. It is situated in Addis Adaba, Ethiopia. The idea of opening the museum came up with the establishment of Ethiopian Cultural Heritage Administration in 1976 that was supported by the Government. The museum is divided into four sections according to the items or displays. The first section of the museum called as Paleontological and pre-historic section, which includes displays related to various discoveries such as fossil evidences that are 3.2 million years old and stone tools. Prehistoric part consists of collections representing human origin. Many items that depict various stages of history from pre-Axumite to 20th century time are displayed in the second section of the museum that is the Historical Archeological Section. Items included in archeological section are ancient scripts, neck crosses, minted coins and ruins of monuments. The Art section of the museum has cotemporary artworks such as graphics, paintings, drawings and sculptures.
