Old Charm Guest House: Affordability & Location in Bangkok

The Old Charm is a very laid-back, comfortable guest house that offers clean, modern, simple but stylish rooms in an excellent location of Bangkok. The main building, which is now the office, is a century-old historic Thai mansion. The proprietor, Minnie, is delightful and willing to provide as much information and assistance during your stay in Bangkok as you would like.

Guest Rooms
Two Buddha Suites are spacious and private, with en-suite bathrooms and outdoor terraces with swings. Three lotus rooms also offer twin or double beds, but without en-suite bathrooms; these rooms share the shower and bathroom facilities that are very convenient, situated just behind the guest rooms. All rooms face the beautiful, peaceful lotus pond and have air-conditioning, wardrobe, internet wi-fi service and hot water maker.

Onsite Facilities
Coffee and tea, as well as a small refrigerator for guest use, are available inside the office. Laundry services are also available (fee). There is no breakfast included, but the excellent location offers many nearby breakfast choices at a very reasonable cost.

Neighborhood/Nearby Attractions

The location of Old Charm is one of its best aspects – it is very conveniently located right by the Skytrain (Ratchathewi station); this is very important if you have ever experienced Bangkok traffic! With the addition of the new Airport train service one stop down at the Phaya Thai station, the ease of getting to Old Charm (not to mention cost) are even better. Right on the property is the Treehouse Restaurant, which is a very local and young crowd and a great way to experience Bangkok for a bit.

Within walking distance are some of the city’s top attractions such as the Jim Thompson house, Siam Discovery Center and the Erawan Shrine. The Sukhumvit Road area, hopping with restaurants and bars, is just a couple of Skytrain stops away (Nana or Asok). In the blocks around Old Charm, you will find plenty of good restaurants and sidewalk cafes, massage spots and nightlife. Or take the water taxi down the canal a ways for a great tour of local life in the city, all for only a few baht.

Good to Know
