If you’re looking for a sunset catamaran cruise, a poolside deep tissue massage, exhilarating day activities on sea and land, and an overall approving nod to public displays of affection – St. Lucia is a no-brainer. The island offers an authentic snapshot of Caribbean culture and cuisine, rainforest and water adventure sports, and a great mix of ultra-luxury hotels and sultry restaurants against the backdrop of the island’s lush and mighty Piton volcanic peaks.

What to Do

Fish FryWine Those Hips
Locals have perfected the art of hip-grinding reggae dancing, and they call it wine-ing. Every Friday night, the infamous Jump Up street party in the town of Gros Islet means uninhibited dancing for a night not to be missed. But first, head to the seaside Fish Fry, another street fair, in the fishing village of Anse La Raye for locally prepared specialties like fried cod, coconut shrimp, whole lobster, conch, breadfruit, green fig and plenty of Piton beer.

The Sea is Your Playground
A catamaran cruise around St. Lucia is a must. Try Spirit of Carnival Sailing Cruises in Ganters Bay for a full day, half day or sunset cruise along the western coast of the island. You’ll lounge on a trampoline as you glide over the sea sipping rum and watching fishing villages, hurricane bays and, of course, the grand Pitons pass by like picture-perfect postcards. Full day cruises include a guided tour of the drive-in volcano at Sulphur Springs, snorkeling at Anse Cochon, drinks on board and more.

Go Wild in the Rainforest
Explore St. Lucia’s lush rainforest with C&M Terrain Roamer Safari Adventure. You’ll tour the island on an all-terrain jeep with a knowledgeable guide and driver, stopping along the way for fruit tastings with local farmers and to see land crabs or cocoa pods or the River Rock Waterfall amid a tropical botanical garden. The more adventurous can try "flying" through the rainforest on a zip line or gondola with Rain Forest Aerial Tram.

If You Go

Surprise Her With a Swim-Up
Bed to pool or vice versa equals sexy, so book a swim-up room at the four-star boutique Coco Palm Hotel in Rodney Bay Village. You’ll step straight from your terrace to a private section of the moonlit pool. Their elegant but comfortable Ti Bananne Caribbean Bistro & Bar offers memorable alfresco dining with live music on the weekends.

Be Direct
American Airlines now offers nonstop service from Miami and New York City straight to St. Lucia. Or fly Air Jamaica for their signature "Lovebird Hospitality" including complimentary champagne in economy class.

Use Protection
Slather her in a locally made, all-natural sunscreen. "Sun Shield" uses botanical extracts like Echinacea, gingko, coconut, sweet almond, soy, sesame seed, macadamia nut, grapefruit seed, peppermint and lavender. Available on the island at Super J’s, the island’s leading supermarket chain.
