Whistler starts promoting what is sure to be a big big season

Vancouver 2010 OlympicsAs if there weren’t already enough great reasons to plan a ski vacation for Whistler in British Columbia, 2010 is certain to be one of the resort’s best seasons ever.  This is true for no other reason than the fact that portions of the 2010 Olympic Winter Games will take place at this world-class resort.

The Olympic Winter Games are set to occur at Whistler between Feb. 12 and 28, 2009, with the Paralympic Winter Games taking place from Mar. 12 to 21, 2009.  These two events will certainly elevate the celebratory atmosphere in Whistler Village this season.  Also, while the Olympic Winter Games surely equals the pinnacle of events in Whistler this season, another great event not to be missed is the TELUS World Ski & Snowboard Festival, which takes place between Apr. 16 and 25, 2010.

A new and exciting feature at the resort this year is the world record-breaking PEAK 2 PEAK Gondola, which  transfers skiers, riders and sightseers between Whistler Mountain and Blackcomb Mountain.  Also, the Sea to Sky Highway has been vastly upgraded, making it even easier to reach this great destination from Vancouver.

Whistler Blackcomb, which boasts the largest amount of skiable terrain in North America with 8,171 amazing acres, is the ideal family destination with something for everyone, including great ski school programs and packages.

The Winter 2009/2010 season promises to be one of the most incredible seasons in Whistler history, so be sure not to forget proposing the resort to clients who are ski or snowboard enthusiasts.
