Taboga Island

The Taboga Island is a volcanic island situated in the Gulf of Panama. The Island is also known as the “Island of Flowers”. It is around 20 kilometers from Panama City, Panama. It is one of hot spot for nature lovers. The Island was discovered in the 16th century.

Vasco Núñez de Balboa, a Spanish explorer named the island as Isla de San Pedro. Currently the place derives its name from an Indian word aboga, meaning many fishes.

The Island features two main beaches, which lies to the left and the other to the right side of the land. Moreover, the place offers some of the best food in country and other attractions include hiking, fishing, be part of walking tour, boating, take a tour to the top of Mount Vigia, visit the second oldest Catholic Church, snorkeling, etc.

Agriculture, fishing and tourism are the major economic activities on the Taboga Island. The place has become popular among tourist due to its natural beauty and its easy accessibility from the Panama City.
