Panama Canal Museum

The Panama Canal Museum is located in the Old Town of Panama City. Established in September 9, 1997, museum is a non-profit intuition serving the society. The museum aims at maintaining, collecting, researching and promoting the essential objects and material related to the Panama City and canal.

The museum built explain the history of the Panama Canal by various means of communications, which include documents, videos, images, and the stories relating to those who was directly and indirectly related to the canal. Originally, the building served as a headquarters for both French and U.S companies who were involved in the project.

The Panama Canal Museum act as a member of the American Alliance of Museums (AAM), International Council of Museums (ICOM), and was the first non- US affiliate of the institution named as Smithsonian.

Nearby attractions, include Panama Canal, Seafood Market, Ancon Hill, Balboa Avenue, Miraflores locks visitor Center, National Handicraft Market, Presidential Palace, Amador Causeway, National Theatre, etc. Every year Museum manages to attract thousands of tourists to the place and explore the rich cultural heritage of the region.
