The Biodiversity Museum

Located on the Amador Causeway in Panama City, Panama the Biodiversity Museum is one of the most famous tourist destinations in the country. Museum mainly aims at preserving and promoting the biodiversity. The structure is official known as Panama Bridge of Life or Biomuseo.

World famous architect, Frank Gehry, who designed the Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles and the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, designed the project. The designer used very bright colors to express its tropical location. The design was confirmed in 1999 and in 2004, it was announced that he dedicated his work to his county’s people. Construction started in 2004 and finished in 2011. Total expenditure incurred to build the structure was approximately 60 million dollars, financed by 100 local companies along with Panamanian government. The “Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute” supports the Biodiversity Museum.

In coming years, the museum will feature nearly eight exhibition best representing biodiversity of Panama City. The museum was open to public in 2013 and it is believed that the place will attracts up to 600,000 visitors annually.
