Mausolem of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi, Kazakhstan

Mausolem of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi is located in city Turkestan, Kazakhstan. The structure of the mausoleum was started by Timur inorder to replace 12th century mausoleum but construction was stopped due to the sudden death of the Timur and was left incomplete. The mausoleum depicts Tumurid architectural style and is the best-preserved monuments of Kazakhstan.

The mausolem’s entrance is made through southeast called as kazandyk and is the largest brick dome in central Asia. At its center lies the   bronze cauldron that was used for religious ceremonies. At the northwest lies the tomb of Yasawi that consists of sarcophagus at the center of the section. The interior is decorated with mauqarnas and the exterior walls are covered with various geometric patterns Kufic and Suls that are derived from Quran. The two mirates were were also initially proposed but could not be implemented due to the halt in the construction. Its dome is beautifully designed with golden patterns made on hexagonal arranged tiles. Three techniques were used in designing of the structure of the building namely Haftrangi, Faience and Bannai.
