Got World Cup fever? For travellers looking at their chance to be part of the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa in June 2010 – all hope is not lost.
On December 15, 2009, Emirates Airlines – official airline sponsor for the 2010 FIFA World Cup – announced that it would be offering specialized 2010 FIFA World Cup Packages starting from $4,274, including flights (from Toronto, New York, Houston, Los Angeles, or San Francisco), accommodations, match tickets, and internal city transfers within South Africa.
Emirates 2010 FIFA World Cup Packages
The package will be sold exclusively in Canada through MyEscapades.ca, a premiere Canadian tour provider.
Fly on the A380 via Dubai, the world’s largest passenger aircraft from Toronto to Dubai. From Dubai, passengers can connect through one of five daily flights to South Africa’s Johannesburg, Durban, or Cape Town. Transfers to/from the airport are also included.
Accommodations range from 2* to 5* options, making this 2010 FIFA World Cup package accessible for football fans with budgets – and those without. Hotels are based in Johannesburg, Durban, or Cape Town. The location of your hotel will become your “base camp” for the duration of your stay.
Transfers from city to city are included in the package. This means if your hotel and base camp is on Johannesburg and your game is in another city, Emirates will take care of transfers via short-haul flights or motor coach.
Category A match tickets are also part of the package and include match day programs. This is probably one of the best (and most legitimate) ways to still get tickets to 2010 FIFA games.
Follow your team or choose your match are two options available to those interested in the Emirates’ 2010 FIFA World Cup package. Football fans can choose any single or combination of matches from the Round of 16, Quarter-Finals, Semi-Finals, or Finals. They can also choose to follow their favourite team from game to game throughout the competition.
Customized packages are also available for those looking for something more or less than the 10 packages already set up through Emirates.
Add on a safari. For those booking a stay in South Africa from 5-nights or more – and all the World Cup fever isn’t wild enough for you – MyEscapades.ca is able to help travellers add-on a safari to their package.
