Canada Aviation and Space Museum

Originally founded in 1964, the Canada Aviation and Space Museum is located at the Rockcliffe Airport in Ottawa, Canada. While constructing this museum, the focus of the Canadian government was on bush flying and early aircraft manufacturers. The museum served as the National Aeronautical Collection from the amalgamation of three separate existing collections including the National Aviation Museum at Uplands, the Canadian War Museum collection, and the RCAF Museum. The Museum features a collection of wide variety of civilian and military aircraft, depicting the history of Canadian aviation from the pioneer era before the First World War up to the present day. The center of attraction of the museum is the collection of vintage bush planes from the 1920s to the 1940s. The museum’s popular exhibit is the surviving component of the Avro Arrow interceptor from the late 1950s.

In summers, visitors to the Museum can take flying tours of the Capital in an open cockpit Waco UPF-7 biplane circa 1939; helicopter rides are also available. Moreover, the Museum’s Hang Glider Studio offers aviation-themed activities and crafts for children.
