ConnectingTimes Reduced at Toronto Pearson Airport

Passengers connecting through Terminal 1 at Toronto Pearson International Airport enroute to the United States no longer have to reclaim their checked baggage. This will affect 800,000 passengers this year alone, and should help speed up connection and transfer times.

In order to make connecting through Toronto Pearson easier, it will no longer be necessary for people arriving in Terminal 1 and connecting onward to the United States to collect their checked baggage. Checked bags will be directed to onward flights to the United States without a requirement to claim luggage in Toronto before proceeding to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP).

The next stage in this change of process will be the removal of the existing in-transit baggage carousel.  Once removed, the space will be updated with seating and information screens for passengers connecting through Terminal 1 bound for the United States. This construction work is scheduled to be completed in time for the summer travel season.

“We are very pleased to offer an improved guest experience for those connecting through Toronto Pearson and heading to the United States,” said Pamela Griffith-Jones, Vice President, Guest and Terminal Services.  “Part of our commitment to our guests is that we will simplify connections wherever possible.  We have worked closely with our partners to ensure that all requirements are being met while making an improvement for the 800,000 guests per year who will benefit from this change as they connect through Terminal 1 on their way to the U.S.”
