Fort Frederick George is located to the west of the harbor of St.George. It was built in 1705 by the French and was originally named as Fort Royal but was later renamed as Fort George in 1763 in the honor of King George III. Since the fort has been built in the form of bastion tracer, each level of the fort can give covering fire for the other level.
There is a viewing section lying toward the inner harbor from where the important landmarks can be viewed. The fort offers a 360-degree view, which includes the view of the town of St. George and many settlements in St. David. The southern part of the fort provides the view of the southern coastline towards the Grand Anse beach. The main drawback of the fort was that it was undefended from the north side and this problem was later on solved by fortifying the fort.
