Ivuka Arts Centre

Ivuka Arts Centre, established by Artist Colin Sekajugo in 2007, is nestled in Kacyiru town in the city of Kigali. Primarily, a group of seven artists who noticed the lack of arts education in Rwanda came together with the intent to introduce art to the people of the country. The art center provides a platform and invites the locals to learn painting. The art group works with the local community to encourage young artists and promote creative art through several art forms.

The founder artist, Colin Sekajugo works for the main objective, which is “use art to change lives”. To fulfill the objective, the self-taught artist never mined to go beyond the priory and call of the duty. Consequently, he started an ambitious arts project wherein he provided a platform to artists with the intent to achieve the end result – to develop Rwanda’s contemporary cultural heritage. Today, the Ivuka Arts Centre is a force to reckon with as far as the status of Rwandan art at national and international level is concerned.

Inside the centre, watching artists giving their thoughts a form on canvas in the gallery and enjoy their great company is the delight of many visitors. Additionally, the centre offers visitors a chance to see and admire the great artworks by both learners and professional artists. On the other hand, young children can enjoy participating in creating various artworks like painting and drawing at the Ivuka Art Centre.
