Wondering what to wear on and off the ski slopes? I’ve got some ideas that are not only fashionable, but functional, too. Although I live in Florida, I’m no stranger to the cold. I’ve hiked in Alaska, gone dog sledding in Quebec and glacier trekking in Iceland just to name a few. I just got back from a snowboarding trip in western Canada, and it was 10 below. So as a wimpy Floridian, I’m always concerned about how to stay warm.
FIRST LOOK: ON THE SLOPES
Let’s start with our ski wear look. Luckily, skiing and snowboarding fashion has come a long way.
Ski jacket
This jacket from The North Face is a really good example. What I love about it is not only the fun color, but the faux fur gives it a modern snow bunny look.
Ski pants
Then you pair that with sleek pair of pants. These are from Obermeyer, and they are super warm.
SECOND LOOK: APRES SKI
Here are some great choices for apres ski.
Jacket
This jacket is also from Obermeyer. And it is fitted, to show off your figure. So, you won’t look like a marshmallow.
Sweater
And underneath the white jacket, we have an adorable sweater from John and Jenn.
These are Joe’s Jeans from Piperlime. They are perfect for the apres ski look because you can easily wear them with boots. They’re great for wearing on the plane, too, because they are really comfy.
Under layer
One of the most important tricks to staying warm and toasty is under layers. This shirt and pants are from Cuddl Duds. They have super cute design options and feel really soft on your skin.

Under layer
The shirt is from SmartWool. You might think of wool as being itchy and scratchy, but this is merino wool. It’s designed to absorb any sweat from your skin in order to keep you warm. SmartWool also has incredible socks that I highly recommend.

Gloves and mittens
OK, you want to keep your hands warm, too. So I got three pairs of gloves from Zappos, which is one of my all-time fave online retailers. The gloves I picked out are great for the apres ski look. And some have smart touch technology, so you can make a call and keep your gloves on. The heavier glove is from Gordini; those are better for the slopes.

Boots
I chose The North Face boots from Piperlime and a Sorel pair and Cushe. The cool thing about them is they are all waterproof so you can wear them to the slopes, hiking through an ice cave, you name it. Consider buying them a half size larger then you normally would since you’ll be wearing thick socks.

Hats
The hats are from a company called Chaos. They come in a variety of styles and they cover your ears. And the other hats are from Coal. Are they are less sporty, so perfect for heading out to dinner.

Scarves
Old Navy has some really great scarves. It’s such a great way to add color to any outfit. When I travel, I always take a few scarves along. I wear them on the plane, on the slopes, out to dinner.

Sunscreen, lip balm
This is a product called Supergoop. It’s so important to wear sunscreen, even if the sun is not out.
Camera
Of course you will want to document everything so these cameras from Nikon are great because they are really small and easy to keep in your pocket.
