Khan Shatyr Entertainment Center is known as the world’s tallest building with a tent-like structure that regularly changes its color according to the time of the day. It stands at a height of 150 meters and covers 140,000 square meters of land area. The center was inaugurated by the President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, on December 9, 2006. The architecture of the center was designed by Norman Foster, a renowned UK-based architect in such a way that it could withstand extreme climatic conditions.
Khan Shatyr Entertainment Center consists of football stadiums, internal park, shopping center, indoor beach resort, and a shopping and entertainment venue. The roof of the center is built with ETFE material and has a conical structure. The transparent material allows the sunlight to pass through the tent, and the temperature is maintained by heating and cooling systems installed inside the center. With a range of climate control equipment installed, the center offers a wide range of activities around the year, irrespective of the weather conditions in Kazakhstan.
