Opéra de Monte-Carlo

The Opera de Monte-Carlo is the part of the Monte Carlo Casino and designed by the architect Charles Garnier. Built in 1878, it took around eight and a half month to be complete. It was inaugurated in 1879, later in the same year many alterations were decided to carry out. The Salle Garnier has been totally restored while preserving its classical spirit.

The restoration of the Opera consists of renovation of roof, reformation of the complex, and some modifications to the stage and basement. Further, renovation includes auditorium and the huge chandelier. Palais Garnier theatre in Paris inspired the architectural style of Opera house of Monaco and many of artists worked on both the theatres. It is much smaller, seating only 524.The Opera house has premiered many works; it hosts about six performance series per season, split between operas, ballets, and thematic pieces by the Monte-Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra. During daytime, visitors can tour the Opera if there are no rehearsals or performances taking place. Those who intend to see a performance can check in at the box office for available seats.
