No longer will Cinderella and Mickey Mouse be the only idols at Disney World!
Walt Disney Parks and Resorts announced in early February that they would be creating an “American Idol” attraction at its Walt Disney Resort in Florida. The attraction will bring the television and pop culture phenomenon to life and will give Disney guests the opportunity to participate!
The attraction is set to debut in late 2008 and will be located at Disney’s Hollywood Studios theme park – and will follow the model of the American Idol TV show – and including all the glitz and glamour. Disney guests will participate and be able to experience auditions, performing on stage in competition, and be judged on performances on an American Idol set.
Guests will perform live for Disney’s Hollywood Studios producer and be cast in a theme park show. They will experience all the backstage perks: working with a vocal coach, hair, make up – and then will get the chance to go on stage and perform for a panel of judges and audience.
Those with the highest votes will compete in the end-of-day Grand Finale show. Those who win the Grand Finale will receive a guaranteed reservation for a future regional stadium audition. Jay Rasulo, chairman of Disney Parks and Resorts argues that the new American Idol attraction will give its guests the opportunity to participate in their American Idol dream.
