The Canadian War Museum is located in Ottawa in the province of Ontario. The major highlight of the museum is its depiction of Canada’s rich military history, featuring experiences of people on the battlefields and at home. The art collection of the museum includes about 13,000 pieces, including military vehicles and artillery. The permanent exhibitions display key events and defining moments in Canada’s military history.
The exhibits depict human conflict through personal stories, art, artifacts, photographs, and interactive presentations. The Museum’s LeBreton Gallery features a Voodoo jet fighter suspended from the ceiling, and a vast collection of massive tanks, military vehicles, and guns. The museum has devoted much of its public exhibition space to its Canadian Experience Galleries. These displays depict the effect of that war on Canadian’s development and the significant role Canadians haves played in international conflicts. The Canadian War Museum also houses a Military History Research Centre, a leading library and archival research facility, and a large collection of some 500,000 artifacts, including uniforms, weapons, war art, and aircraft.
