The ski and snowboard season is upon us and resorts are getting pumped up. But pumped up may not be enough to describe the excitement circulating at Bear Mountain and Snow Summit considering that a sizeable investment of $1.7 million has been made to enhance both resorts for the upcoming season.
Bear Mountain and Snow Summit are located at Big Bear Lake, within the San Bernardino mountains of California. Skiers and riders are able to access both mountains with a single area use ticket. The resorts are only 10 minutes apart by car and there is a free shuttle that takes guests between resorts every half hour.
The two alpine facilities combine to bring you 26 lifts spread out over five mountain peaks. The overall top elevation is 8,805 feet with night skiing found at Snow Summit. The terrain park at Bear Mountain holds a halfpipe with 12 foot walls and an 18 foot superpipe, plus plenty of jumps and jibs throughout. Snow Summit features an additional two terrain parks, one of them being a beginner park for learning. The mountains open sometime during mid to late November, so get ready to hit the slopes soon!
Improvements to both resorts include enhancements to the snowmaking system to increase efficiencies, plus new Snowcats to expedite grooming. Transportation has also been increased between mountains with the addition of a new shuttle that gets skiers and riders on the slopes within minutes.
Satisfaction is guaranteed at these two great resorts. If for any reason, you are not satisfied with your day of skiing or riding, you can turn in your area use ticket to the Guest Services Office within 75 minutes of issuance to receive a voucher for another day. Also, be sure to take advantage of their great promotion that allows you to ski or ride for FREE on your birthday upon presenting valid photo I.D. Other great programs like the Half-Day Getaway and Customer One-Time Reward Entry (CORE) present more great ways to ski and save at the same time.
This season, these resorts are celebrating 20 years of park development with two decades of terrain-park and snowboarding innovation, style, creativity, and history. In celebration of 20 years of park evolution, Bear Mountain and Snow Summit have chronicled this journey in a new film titled “Parkumentary.” A sneak peak is available at www.bearmountain.com/snowboard.
“No resort in the country can match our history in the progression of snowboarding,” said Chris Riddle, Director of Marketing for Big Bear Mountain Resorts. “We continue to lead the way in one-of-a-kind features and innovative terrain.”
Lots of money was spent on improvements, but care was taken to ensure that all funds were used as efficiently as possible. “During these uncertain economic times, we have purposefully been conservative with our spending to remain fiscally responsible,” said Chris Riddle. “We are committed to maintaining the high quality experience our guests have come to expect from us.” Big Bear Mountain Resorts always makes sure to offer the best value possible to guests and their families.
