Wat Phanom, Cambodia

Wat Phanom is a Buddhist temple located in Phanom Penh, Cambodia and was built in 1373. Wat Phanom is famous as Wat Preah Chedey Borapaut and is considered as the center of attraction of Phnom Penh.

The temple was re-built several times in the 19th century and in 1926.The interior part of the temple comprises of a statue of Buddha made of bronze, which is surrounded by many other statues, flowers, candles and many items of worship. Its walls are decorated with murals that reflect the reincarnation of Buddha. The vihara, that is the temple sanctuary, consists of ashes of King Ponhea Yat and to the northern side and underneath the vihara lies the shrine dedicated to the genie Preah Chau. In the right chamber of the statue lies the drawings of Confucius and two Chinese figures of Thang Cheng and Thang Thay. At the southwest corner of the stupa and Vihar lies a small shrine of Lady Penh. There is also a museum that lies below the northern side of vihara that has a collection of historical artifacts and statutes.
