Goodbye Hooters, Las Vegas

If you haven’t had the opportunity to grace a Hooters restaurant for cheap wings nights, then you’re definitely missing out on their spicy hot chic(ken) wings.

Hooters Las Vegas

Hooters Sign in Las VegasAlas, it’s time to bid farewell to Hooters’ signature girls in orange shorts and white tanks in Las Vegas.

Who knew a place like Hooters wouldn’t sell in a place like Vegas?

In March 2008, it was announced that the Hooters Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas would be sold. Hedwigs Las Vegas Top Tier developers are completing the financing for $225 million and the deal is slated to be done by the end of spring in 2008.

The property opened only in February 2006 but in 2007 reported earnings that fell 32% within one year from $1.7 million to $1.1 million – revenue that is said to barely cover inflation.

The New Boutique Hotel

Hooters in Las VegasIt was announced that the former Hooters Hotel and Casino would be re-modeled, renovated and renamed into a new high end lifestyle, entertainment-driven boutique hotel and casino complex. As a property off the strip, it is thought by developers that the new development hopes to attract a high-end clientele – very different than that of Hooters’ regular customer base.

A new boutique hotel operator will be managing the property. Deals with high-end restaurant and night club developers are also in progress. It is estimated that the costs for renovations will be another $130 million on top of the original property purchase costs.

Designer Dodd Mitchell will heat up a team that will redesign and use the current property’s structure in their new plans. He has worked on redesigning other hotels like the Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood, California and Thompson boutique hotels in Beverly Hills and Manhattan.
