Copenhagen – Open for Everyone

Denmark Debuts New LGBT Campaign

VisitDenmark highlights diversity and openness of the Danish Capital with LGBT campaign including dedicated Microsite, blog, Facebook and Twitter page.

Denmark has always been known as the pioneers for LGBT rights and freedoms, beiing the first nation to legalize same-sex marriages. Now, VisitDenmark proudly announces the launch of its new LGBT campaign -“cOPENhagen – Open For Everyone” – which highlights and celebrates the welcoming and diverse atmosphere of Copenhagen, Denmark‘s capital city. To mark the occasion, VisitDenmark is debuting a new Gay Copenhagen Microsite, Facebook and Twitter page, as well as an LGBT Copenhagen Blog Feed. All four media outlets have been designed to serve as up-to-date resources that will assist LGBT travelers in uncovering the very best of gay life in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Concentrated in less than one square mile, Copenhagen’s cosmopolitan gay scene is a powerfully popular draw, attracting visitors from all over the globe. In fact, just last year, Copenhagen was named one of the world’s top 7 most gay-friendly destinations by Hotel & Resort Insider.

At the new LGBT Microsite, gay and lesbian tourists may experience Copenhagen up-close-and-personal. From attractions to gay event listings to tips on making friends in the land of the Danes, everything travelers could possibly want to know about Scandinavia’s most vibrant capital city. For travelers to Copenhagen, there is even a feature that allows travelers to create a customized gay travel guide tailored to their own personal needs and interests. The Copenhagen Blog Feed will keep tourists current with the latest goings on and gay happenings in Copenhagen including accommodation and air specials.

With the debut of its “cOPENhagen – Open for Everyone” LGBT campaign, Denmark builds upon its long-standing history as not only one of the world’s most gay-friendly destinations, but also as a pioneer in the movement for gay and lesbian rights. In 1948, the National Association for Gays and Lesbians (LBL), as a first-of-its-kind, was founded in Denmark and in 1989 the country became the first in the world to recognize marriage between two persons of the same sex. A decade later in 2009, Denmark moved to allow married gays and lesbians to adopt, again blazing a path for the rest of the world to follow.

A diverse and exciting city that is home to both an array of sparkling cultural attractions as well as an inviting nightlife and club scene, Copenhagen proudly celebrates its reputation as a destination where you can make friends, explore history and dare to be authentic, while making lasting memories. Copenhagen is truly Open For Everyone.
