The beach at Sandals Emerald Bay is one of those perfect beaches. You know the ones. Private, soft, white, powdery sand. Clear, gentle, warm water. The beaches and water in the Exumas are like this in general, but not all the beaches in the Exumas come with a butler who will deliver anything, anywhere, anytime.
Despite not using my butler phone once (a small, mobile phone with your own personal, 24/7 butler on speed dial), I did find it intriguing nonetheless. Get to the beach and forget your sunscreen? Call your butler and they will bring you some. Want something to eat while you lay on the beach? Butler. Want your clothes packed/unpacked for you? Butler. Breakfast in bed? Butler. Load of laundry? Butler. In fact, right there in the personalized letter you receive upon checking in, your butler lays it out that they want to “ensure that all your whims and wishes will be met at all times”. They’re the real deal, too. All butlers are trained by the Guild of Professional English Butlers to the highest standards, which I found kind of cool.
While I can’t say I’m accustomed to, or comfortable with, this level of decadence, it was quite an experience.
