When you’re in Miami, be sure to explore Ocean Drive during the day to get an in-depth look at the incredible art deco and modern architecture that Miami’s South Beach is known for.  The Miami Design Preservation League (www.mdpl.org) offers daily tours with incredibly informative guides.

Be sure to make your way back to South Beach when the sun goes down and the streets really come to life.  As the neon lights of the hotels and palm trees light up at night, grab a spot on one of the many sidewalk patios for a drink to people watch, gasp at the ridiculous outfits, or watch the Ferraris with their tops down roll by.  There’s nothing like a South Beach at night.

Recently renovated, Hotel Victor (www.hotelvictorsouthbeach.com) is one of the nicer hotels on Ocean Drive.  The classic art-deco lobby will take you back to the heyday of South beach in the 80’s.  The hotel’s jellyfish motif and aquarium give the hotel a fun boutique twist, not to mention the original mural on the lobby’s back wall by Earl Le Pan.
