Discover the new Cosmopolitan Hotel of Las Vegas
What’s easily the most talked-about luxury resort and casino in Las Vegas and the United States this year – the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas has been a 3.9 billion dollar project considered one of the most lavish of the decade – despite the recession.
If anything, the Cosmopolitan signifies and celebrates the end of the dark economic age in the U.S. and ushers in a new era of new money, exclusivity, and what modern-day Las Vegas glitz and glamour is all about. Here’s what you need to know about the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas.
The new Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas
Location: 3708 Las Vegas Boulevard (Las Vegas Blvd. & Harmon) just north of City Center Las Vegas and south of the Bellagio.
Hotel: The hotel offers 2,995 large rooms – a luxury in itself in Vegas. Designed by architect David Rockwell, there are two, fifty-floor towers, the East and West towers, that offer condo-style rooms starting at 730 sq ft. up to +5400 sq ft., three-story bungalow-style suites. Luxurious bathrooms and terrace balconies – the only resort on the Strip to have outdoor balconies. Each room has state-of-the-art technology, plasma televisions, entertainment systems, and wireless internet. Large marble bathrooms offer Japanese soaking tubs and rain showers.
Casino: 100,000 square feet of casino space and is also the only resort on the Strip to have windows on it casino floor.
Spa: Sahra Spa & Hammam is one of the city’s only true “hammam” experiences and if you thought the rooms, the casino, and hotel were nice – the spa is off the charts when it comes to luxury, design, and glitzy.
Amenities: The hotel also offers three unique pool experiences as well as 150,000 sq ft. of state-of-the-art convention and meeting space.
Dining: These days, you can’t open a resort/casino in Las Vegas without getting a barrage of superstar chefs or restaurants with a proven track record. The Cosmopolitan offers two restaurants by Spanish chef, Jose Andres: China Poblano and Jaleo. Similarly, Chef Scott Conant also boasts his signature brand, Scarpetta, and a wine bar, D.O.C.G. There’s also an STK hailing from NYC, L.A., and Miami; as well as an Estiatorio Milos from Montreal, NYC, and Athens.
Entertainment: Now considered the most exclusive club in Las Vegas, Marquee nightclub is a multi-level club and lounge. For something more glitzy, the Chandelier Lounge is located front-and-center at the heart of the hotel in a massive chandelier.
Shopping: Forget Prada or LV – at the Cosmopolitan, you’ll find small international designer boutiques unique to the Strip like the CRSVR Sneaker Boutique, DROOG from Amsterdam, DNA2050, and STITCHED.
Celeb hotspot: Aside from the gargantuan amount of money spent on this place, it’s the most talked-about place in Vegas and even celebs can’t get enough. Spotted here during New Year’s weekend: Jay-Z, Beyonce, Chris Martin and Coldplay, Gwyneth Paltrow, Cameron Diaz and A-Rod, John Mayer, and many more!
