Swiss Museum of Transport

Opened in July 1959, the Swiss Museum of Transport is situated in Lucerne, Switzerland, and is one of the biggest museums in Europe that flaunts transportation and communication themed stuff. The museum displays all forms of transport including, locomotives, automobiles, ships, and aircrafts.

The museum has more than 3,000 items for exhibition in a space about 40,000 square meters. Additional collection that museum maintains is the work by Hans Erni, a local painter and sculptor. Besides the collection, other attractions in the museum are Planetarium, Cable railways, Air and Space travel, etc.

Planetarium is a theatre built for educational and entertaining shows about the astronomy and the night sky, or for training in celestial navigation. Cable railways displays show cabins from aerial cableways and working models of mountain transportation, and the Air and Space travel gives visitors an opportunity to see antique and modern airplanes, helicopters, Mercury and Gemini space capsules, and an Apollo space suit that was worn on the moon.

It is a great place to visit and you can take plenty of time to enjoy this museum. It has all types of transport history. With the range of vehicles, it provides various activities for all age groups. The place is easily accessible through bus or car.
