The Eugenia is old-fashioned Bangkok at its best: an old world style architectural beauty, is embodied in a late 19th-century colonial-style house, charmingly decorated and tastefully furnished in the heart of down town Bangkok. The Eugenia was inspired by the owner’s 83-year-old Vietnamese lady friend, and her sense of chic, sophistication and gracious living. She could well be the human embodiment of The Eugenia herself. It positively exudes the charm and timeless elegance of days gone by.
Guest Rooms
Each of the 12-suites of The Eugenia is appointed with antique furniture and fittings. The furniture and fittings have been part of an eclectic private collection of the owner and his family collected over time from British & French Colonial Burma, India & Indo-China. And all the beddings are imported from Belgium in pure white linen with feather pillows and duvets. The four-posted beds, settees, dressers and desks in the suites are of various vintage as are light switches and light fittings; they bring you back perhaps eighty or a hundred years, or more. The period decoration even extends to the bathtubs that were made of hand – beaten copper and aluminum-alloy.
Onsite Facilities
The lobby, the reception area, the cafe, the library and the lounge are set on the ground floor while all the twelve guest rooms are located on the 2nd and 3rd floors in the main building. The swimming pool and the Thai sala are set in the rear courtyard; the entire pool area harkens back to a more leisurely time where people of taste sipped tea or coffee and partook of the finest delectable fares under swaying palm trees on balmy sub-tropical evenings.
Fine gourmet is found at the D.B. Bradley Dining Room where cross-cultured delicacies, such as Rocket salad meets Ikura (Salmon Roe), Ankimo (Monk fish liver) meets Caviar, and Sea Urchin meets Quail egg. The restaurant is named after a Christian missionary who was a doctor, health officer, newspaperman, an advisor to a previous king; he was the first western physician to enter Siam as a missionary in 1835.
Neighborhood/Nearby Attractions
The Eugenia is centrally located on Soi 31, also known as Soi Sawasdee, (Thai for Warm Greetings and Welcome), on Sukhumvit Road right in the heart of the throbbing tourist district of downtown Bangkok City. From here you could range far and wide and explore the City that has everything that other SE Asian cities can only talk about.
Several shopping areas are nearby within walking distance, or very close rickshaw/Skytrain ride, such as The Emporium Shopping Complex, Thonglo District, the Siam Square, The Siam Paragon, and The Gayson shopping center. Many fine restaurants, offering both Thai and international varieties are also located in the mid Sukhumvit area, such as: Maha Naga (Thai/ Soi 29), Giusto (Italian/ Soi 23), Yuu (BBQ/ Soi 31), Bann Khanitha (Thai/ Soi 23), Le Dalat (Vietnamese/ Soi 23), Silom Village (Thai-Seafood/ Soi 31), and Lemongrass (Thai/ Soi 24).

Good to Know
- The Eugenia can be a bit hard to find, even with the map from the website. It’s also much farther from the Skytrain station than it appears on the map, so getting a taxi from the station and having the directions in Thai available are good ideas for arrival.
