From bustling New York City to Abu Dhabi and Mexico featured throughout the tv shows & films – here’s what you need to know about travelling the world with Carrie Bradshow & the girls from Sex and the City.
It’s said that New York City is the next most important character of the Sex and the City series after Carrie, Miranda, Samantha & Charlotte. Here are some of the most popular Sex and the City hot spots to visit when you’re in Manhattan:
The New York Public Library (5th Avenue & 42nd St) is also an important SATC location – it’s here that Carrie decides to marry Big and later, where she accosts him with a bouquet after he stands her up at the ceremony.
The Pleasure Chest (156 7th Ave. South) is the sex shop where Charlotte purchased the famous rabbit vibrator for herself.
A visit to NYC isn’t complete with a visit to Jimmy Choo (645 Fifth Avenue or 716 Madison Avenue), one of Carrie’s favourite shoe stores.

Patricia Field (302 Bowery) is at the heart of all the outrageous fashion in Sex and the City. As the stylist for the show, you can check out similar clothes and accessories at her shop where even Beyonce frequents.
Malibu, California is featured in the first Sex and the City movie, where Samantha and Smith live together in a stylish luxurious mansion on the beach. Instead of cancelling what would have been Carrie & Big’s honeymoon, the four girls head to Mexico to support Carrie – the scenes were actually filmed in Malibu.
In the new Sex and the City 2 film, Carrie & the girls head to Abu Dhabi but the entire portion was actually filmed in and around Marrakech, Morocco after the cast and crew were declined permission to film in the United Arab Emirates. It’s rumoured that scenes were filmed at the Mandarin Oriental Marrakech while Sarah Jessica Parker stayed at the luxurious La Mamounia, popular amongst celebrities.
