If you like a challenge, thrive in a high pressure environment and get a kick out of pushing yourself to your physical and mental limits – have we got a tip for you. As the cutting edge travel experts, Black Tomato specialises in trips to top all trips and our latest offering is set to blow us (and everyone else for that matter) away.

This coming September 2008, something truly incredible is scheduled to occur in Nepal. For the first time in history, man will trump the feat of summiting Everest; instead a lucky few will be the first to jump from a plane at its height. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, this is the Everest skydive. Suffice to say that the lucky few who pioneer the experience will be making history in the adventure experience of a lifetime.

SkydivingSkydiving from 29,500 Feet at Mount Everest

It all starts with altitude acclimatisation treks through the foothills of Himalaya range in Nepal; here you can take in the stunning scenery and also benefit from a Buddhist blessing performed by the monks at Tengboche Monastery – a much needed bit of luck before you take the most intense ‘plunge’ of your life.

So what about the feat itself? Well here’s how it goes: you’ll jump from a plane at the summit of Everest’s famed peak and free fall into the highest drop zone in the world for a heart-pounding 55 second dive. In your custom made suit you won’t feel the cold; instead you’ll be marvelling at the majestic Everest mountain as you whistle by. Far below the starkly beautiful scenery of the Himalayas will take your breath away (if the impact of the jump hasn’t done so already). And the best bit is you don’t’ have to be a pro; in fact, you can be a beginner.

Can’t believe it’s true? Well get used to it. You can be one of the lucky few to take the first jump from 29,500 feet. And just in case your mates scoff, cameramen will follow you down, documenting every glorious second.

The office bragging rights are through the roof; in fact they’re so far off the scale that I think you’ll be able to sit comfortably as king (or queen) of the adrenaline junkies for years to come. Not only has this never been done before, but it’s the kind of daredevil feat that will put you up there among the likes of Hillary and Shackleton, our favourite intrepid explorers. This is making history, the 21st century way.

Forget groundbreaking, the Everest skydive is set to be airbreaking.
