Daily Photo: Sunset on the boardwalk in Puerto Vallarta

The best time to stroll along the famous boardwalk or “malecon” in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, is when the sun begins to set – a perfect backdrop behind the Sierre Madre mountains in the west.

As afternoon turns into evening, the streets of this coastal city begin to cool from the blasting hot sun of the day.  Bit by bit, food stalls begin to set up their stands, lights on the boardwalk begin to ignite the palm trees, performers claim their territory, and artists set up their work for purchase by passerby’s.

Hours pass and the streets get busier and busier with tourists and locals running in and out of shops, sipping cervezas on restaurant patios, or strolling down to enjoy the atmosphere and mood of it all.

The newly refurbished boardwalk is one of the most visited parts of Puerto Vallarta and is complete with large public art pieces like the infamous seahorse or the colourful dancing couple.
