National Museum and Art Gallery Trinidad

The National Museum and Art Gallery is the national museum of Trinidad and Tobago, and located in Port of Spain on Trinidad Island. It was founded in 1892 as the Royal Victoria Institute. The museum includes a collection of about ten thousand items, which includes various painting by Michel-Jean Cazabon. The Art Gallery of the museum includes petroleum and geological exhibits, national art collections, and a small gallery on Trinidad’s Carnival arts. It also includes an audio-visual room that offers educational programs for the visitors to give them knowledge about the history and culture of the country.

The museum comprises of a small gallery on carnival arts with another small gallery by popular artist Michel Jean Cazabon of nineteenth century. The museum works for a unique mission of understanding Trinidad and Tobago’s Human and Natural Heritage through the collection, research, preservation, and interpretation of significant collections of that heritage.
