The Westin La Cantera at a glance

A Texas-sized statement in elegance, The Westin La Cantera located in San Antonio, is big, bold and beautiful. Perched upon a hilltop, this grand hotel is full of warmth and grins.

The grand lobby greets you with elevated ceilings framed with exposed wood beams and sitting areas showcasing traditional furniture blended with worn leather wingback chairs trimmed in studs. A rustic color palatte features oxidized shades of orange, rugged browns and fresh creamy tones of off-white. Wrought iron, multiple wood tones and trefoil arches on the doorways combine effortlessly proving everything really is bigger and better in Texas.

Here are a few reasons why the beautifully designed Westin La Cantera might be for you:

  • Would your kids get a kick out of interacting with a two-toed sloth, or, maybe running amuck through a bouncy house dreamland? The Westin kids club and family activities offer just that. Experience nature trails, scavenger hunts, holiday extravaganzas like an ice skating rink in December and even get your zumba on. My inner child gravitated to Zoomagination. If this interactive, exotic animal adventure loaded with education and entertainment got this big kid smiling, then it’s sure to impress the little ones.
  • Superior service comes in the form of Rhonda, the hotel’s Guest Experience Ambassador. When you book your stay you may get a personal call or email from Rhonda sniffing out any special needs, anniversaries, birthdays or details used to create an unforgettable vacation. She does everything imaginable to enhance and personalize your stay including stashing a framed picture of a loved one for a guest traveling alone on her anniversary. That is a reason alone to return over and over.
  • The Westin La Cantera is full of gastronomic delight. The Gantry, located at the Lost Quarry Pool, provides delicious food in a casual setting backdropped by graceful, sweeping views of the hillside. Grab breakfast and an autograph at Brannon’s Cafe during the Character’s Breakfast starring the characters of The Looney Tunes show from Six Flags Over Texas. Plan for dinner at Francesca’s at Sunset and indulge in their exquisite “Farm-to-Table” menu.
  • Venture off-property for a memorable swim with the Beluga Whales at SeaWorld. This Animal Interaction program allows guests to get up close and personal with the whales or “the canaries of the sea,” so-named by the trainers. The whales proved their vocal ability with a high-pitched shriek sounding strangely like a blasting car alarm. Get ready to don a wetsuit and reward the whales with some fishy treats. You’ll be glad you spent some quality time with these incredible animals.
  • The Palmer Course at La Cantera is a 6,926-yard, par 71 masterpiece weaving through the Texas hillside. “The Palmer Course at La Cantera is one-of-a-kind and a first-class golfing experience” stated Arnold Palmer after playing six holes on the challenging terrain. I can only imagine the amount of skill required to maneuver this beautiful course.
  • Take a short drive to the Historic Pearl Brewery for a delicious dive into Mexican street food at La Gloria Ice House. Chef Johnny Hernandez displays his passion for the Mexican culture in every dish that is served, as well as, the restaurant’s decor. Intricate iron sculptures invite patrons inside to find iron ants crawling the menu board and a stunning copper grill hand-crafted by Mexican artisans. You cannot make a wrong move when it comes to the incredible menu. Make sure to order a Puerco en Chiles (Pork simmered in chiles & spices). The flavors are sensational and the presentation, a traditional Mexican version of the mortar and pestle tool carved out of volcanic stone, is impressive.

I’ve listed only a few

of the Westin La Cantera numerous, enticing amenities; why not visit and find your reason to rave?
