Napoleon BonaparteQuel Romantique!

There’s no doubt you’ve heard of Napoleon Bonaparte, the famous French general during the French Revolution. It was his brother, Jerome Bonaparte, who came to visit the falls with his bride in the early 1800’s, just when the falls were becoming a popular tourist attraction amongst many in the new world.

Similarly, it was Samuel de Champlain who was one of the first Europeans to see the falls, which he described as a set of “spectacular waterfalls” about 200 years before Bonaparte. The result of many reports from members of rich well-to-do Europeans was one of the biggest influences in propagating the popular tourist attraction that is Niagara Falls today.
