7 Romantic experiences & ideas when visiting Prague

Classical Concert in PragueDinner in a Cellar Restaurant.  A romantic dinner is the perfect appetizer to an evening in Prague.  Descending into a stone cellar, couples absorb the ambiance as dancing candlelight provides a warm welcome.  In a corner awaits a table for two, where couples can embark on a journey of flavors and flirtations while transporting back in time.

Classical Concert.  Whether classical music interests you or not, it’s hard not to get swept up in Prague while listening to the brilliance of Vilvadi, Mozart, Bach, and Beethoven, amongst others.  The grandeur of museums, churches, concert halls, synagogues, and Prague Castle all offer the perfect backdrop to appreciate music, history, and love.  This creates a sensual experience for the ears, eyes, body, and mind.

Prague from above.  Prague is a beautiful, scenic city.  To experience its true beauty, one must look down at it.  There are many lookout points in Prague, each offering a different perspective.  A few include Petrin Hill, Petrin Tower, the Astronomical Clock Tower, and the Old Town Bridge Tower.  There are even a number of lookout points located within Prague Castle, with the St. Wenceslas Vineyard being a popular destination.  Lucky for couples, finding a location to watch the sunset won’t be difficult to find.

Charles Bridge and Stare Mesto.Under the stars.  For a spectacular view of Prague, cruise along the Vlata River at night.  Take in a night tour or dinner cruise and become enchanted with Prague’s city lights.  Before long, couples canoodle under the stars as Prague Castle passes by.  Stand on the top deck of the cruise and look up as you go under Charles Bridge waving to the crowds.

Scavenger Hunt on Charles Bridge. Somewhere along the wall of Charles Bridge lies a bronze Lorraine Cross.  Couples can hold hands, buy souvenirs, and spend what seems like hours searching for this cross to touch it and make a wish.  By touching this cross, legend also has it that you will come back to Prague!  While searching for the Lorraine Cross, be sure to look for the St. John of Nepomuk statue, where you can rub the bronze metal for good luck.  This scavenger hunt makes for a funny story between couples who crossed the bridge several times before finally finding their treasure.

Prague CastlePrague Castle. A trip to Prague is not complete without exploring Prague Castle’s grounds.  When you purchase tickets, they are valid for two days.  Take advantage of this by visiting Prague Castle in the early morning and late evening on both days.  Otherwise, the crowds may take away from your magical experience.  For intimacy, purchase an audio tour guide and be swept away in the history of the Cathedral of St. Vitus, the Old Royal Palace, Golden Lane, St. George’s Basilica, the Picture Gallery, and Powder Tower, among others.  Watch the changing of the guard at the entrance to Prague Castle, which happens every hour on the hour, and enjoy a meal at a restaurant or café.  Couples will find it very difficult not to get lost in love within these castle walls.

Stare Mesto. Discover the Old Town, the place where the Royal Route begins and where crystal shops overflow.  Enjoy art galleries, shopping galore, cobblestone sidewalks, and the Old Town Square.  Watch the Astronomical Clock chime on the hour and explore the interiors of the Old Town Hall.  While you’re in the Old Town Hall check out some brochures for tours and activities that you can’t find online.  Then pop into the Church of Our Lady Before Tyn and take a short stroll behind it to find an idyllic courtyard for couples to catch their breathe between merriment kisses.
